ABOUT LISA TALEV

professional headshot of Lisa Talev

Driven by my personal experience overcoming overeating and living with complex illness and chronic pain, I became passionate about healing, studying and helping other women heal and thrive. I started my wellness journey in 1993 and became a massage therapist in 1998.

Massage was the first service I offered to clients when I opened my private practice in 2007. As a massage therapist, I studied my own bounce-back from chronic migraines and fibromyalgia, developed effective ways to treat pain, and shared my best techniques with clients to help them feel their best.

My dedication to self-care enabled me to manage a long list of my own symptoms and still maintain a 5-star rated practice since 2007. Job #1 was taking care of myself, and only then could I do job #2, serving clients.

From 2010-2020, I added to my services Reiki energy healing, holistic health coaching, healthy cooking lessons, sound healing with tuning forks, brain health coaching and qigong & breathwork lessons.

During the shutdown of 2020, while researching how to recover from toxic mold illness, I realized that the complex web of symptoms I'd been dealing with since childhood most likely included Lyme disease. A series of lab tests confirmed that my longtime "mystery symptoms" were from a combination of tick-borne infections, toxic mold syndrome and heavy metal poisoning. It became clear to me that I could no longer push through my own health issues in my efforts to help others.

As of 2024, I am putting my Reiki & sound healing practice on hold and am redirecting 100% of that healing energy to my own recovery. I will only be taking a small number of new coaching clients over the next year or two. If you feel that I'm the right coach for you, please send me a message through my Contact page to see if I can help.

Lisa Talev "before" photo from 1994

(At University in 1994)

This snapshot from college shows what I looked like at the beginning of my healing journey, when I was a sugar-addicted, depressed, stressed out binge-eater. My anxiety and food cravings were made even worse following a low-fat/high carb diet. I also suffered with ADHD symptoms, but had not yet been diagnosed. I was unable to meditate or sit with my emotions, driven instead to overeat several times a day in an attempt to self-soothe.

My idea of exercise during this phase was punishing and excessive. I was trapped in a vicious cycle of perfectionism, negative self-talk, over-exercising and overeating. The harder I worked and the harder I pushed myself, the heavier I got and the further I drifted from my fitness goals...

AFTER

(2013 fitness photo of me by photographer Chuck Schmitz)

It took me many years of studying nutrition, fitness, brain health and energy healing for me to master working smarter, meditating daily and treating my body with more love and respect.

Ironically, when I let go of self-criticism and perfectionism, got rid of my scale, and focused on eating and exercising for brain health, I was able to get into the best shape of my life--and maintain that ultra-fit physique for many years with much less effort than my "before" era.

Now, in my late 40s, I'm still just as lean and muscularly defined as I was in this photo. I only do gentle exercises now, like walking and qigong, and am able to maintain my physique through an anti-inflammatory, autoimmune friendly diet, intermittent fasting, daily detoxification and self-pampering.

It's my joy and honor to share my hard-earned wisdom and fitness secrets with you, so you don't have to learn the hard way! It's all about working smarter, being strategic and LOVING your body.
